KAY VICKERS

“I have been a prize winning portrait artist for 15 years. I am a clinical psychologist. Work with people has strengthened my capacity for empathy and ability to see a subject's character and spark. I can express the love I have in my heart when I paint people, and that feeling is most vivid when I paint members of my own family.

I chose to display some paintings of my family, because many members of the community know them - my children Leah and Luke. They've each married, and we have 2 grandchildren - Dorothy and Vera. The exhibit becomes a way of 'catching up' with them.”

RICHARD VICKERS

I learned to love the natural world growing up in Minnesota and I have been painting since age 12. My paintings have been shown in juried exhibits in the Port Washington Art Guild and one of my works is on permanent view in the Roscoe O&W Train Museum in upstate New York.

Luna, Cecropia, and Polyphemus are three silk moths I have seen in upstate NY. I tried to capture their brilliance, texture, and iridescence. Night blooming cereus, or queen of the night is a tropical flower blossom that appears for one night in my garden. The moths and flower are special to me because they are ephemeral summertime visitors.
